■DESIGNER COMMENT

1990年代を彷彿とさせるオーバルシェイプを、今の大人が掛けられるデザインにアップデートしました。

デザインする上でまず意識したのは、1990年代のオーバルをそのまま再現しないこと。

当時にはなかった素材や技術、ディテールを取り入れることで、今の空気感で掛けられるオーバルを目指しました。

まず、βチタンの細身のテンプルを組み合わせることで、全体の印象をシャープに。そしてフロントにはCUT OFF加工を施し、あえて切りっぱなしのようなラフな質感を残すことで、少し工業的でエッジのある表情を加えています。

近年の細身のオーバルサングラスとは少し違うアプローチで、大人が掛けても懐かしくなりすぎず、今のスタイルに自然と馴染むバランスを考えました。

1990年代のニュアンスを残しながらも、当時とは違う。
そんな2026年のオーバルができたと思っています。

テンプルには、軽やかな掛け心地を生むオリジナルのβチタンを採用。ヒンジには耳の高さの違いに対応できるアジャスターヒンジを搭載し、傾斜角の細かな調整も可能です。

鼻まわりにはクリングスタイプのパッドとやや広めのブリッジを組み合わせ、掛ける人の骨格に合わせて細かなフィッティングができる仕様にしています。

製造は福井県鯖江。
デザインだけでなく、掛けたときのバランスやフィッティングまで考えながら、一本ずつ丁寧に仕上げています。

An oval shape reminiscent of the 1990s, updated for a more mature, contemporary look.

The first thing I wanted to avoid was simply recreating a 1990s oval.

Instead, I wanted to bring in materials, techniques, and details that weren’t available at the time, and create an oval that feels right for today.

Slim β-titanium temples give the frame a sharper, more refined profile. The front features our CUT OFF finish, leaving a deliberately rough, almost industrial edge that gives the frame a more distinctive character.

It’s a different approach from the slim oval sunglasses that have become popular in recent years. The proportions are designed to feel contemporary and easy to wear without looking overly nostalgic.

It still carries a hint of the 1990s, but with a completely different attitude.

This is our interpretation of the oval for 2026.

The temples are made from our original β-titanium construction for a light and comfortable fit. Adjustable hinges allow fine adjustments to the frame angle to accommodate differences in ear height.

Adjustable Cling nose pads are combined with a slightly wider bridge, allowing the frame to be precisely fitted to different facial structures.

Made in Sabae, Fukui, Japan. Each frame is carefully finished with attention not only to the design, but also to balance and fit when worn.
