■DESIGNER COMMENT

2023年に発表したCHARLESのビッグサイズバージョン。

CHARLESは発表以来とても評判が良く、今でも人気のモデルです。

ただ最近、もう少し大きなサイズをゆったり掛けたいと思うようになり、レンズサイズを3mm大きくして作ったのがこのモデルです。

きっかけは、ある映画で見たスタイリスト役のメガネ姿。
少し大きめのフレームをさらっと掛けている姿がとても格好良くて、自分もこんな雰囲気で掛けたいと思ったところから始まりました。

自分には少し大きいくらいですが、今はこのくらいのバランスが気分です。
今回は大きめのサイズでもスタイリングしやすいように、クリア系の生地を多めに選びました。

サイズは大きくても野暮ったくならないよう、テンプルには細身のオリジナルβチタンを採用。フロントにボリュームを持たせながら、横から見たときはすっきりとした印象になるようにしています。

ヒンジには耳の高さの違いに対応できるアジャスターヒンジを搭載し、傾斜角の細かな調整も可能です。

鼻まわりにはクリングスタイプのパッドとやや広めのブリッジを組み合わせ、掛ける人の骨格に合わせて細かなフィッティングができる仕様にしています。

製造は福井県鯖江。
デザインだけでなく、掛けたときのバランスやフィッティングまで考えながら、一本ずつ丁寧に仕上げています。

A larger version of CHARLES, which we first introduced in 2023.

CHARLES has been very well received since its release and remains one of our popular models today.

Recently, though, I found myself wanting to wear something a little bigger and more relaxed. So I increased the lens size by 3mm and created this model.

The idea actually came from a movie. I was really drawn to the styling of a supporting character who wore an oversized frame in such an effortless way. It made me want to wear glasses with that same kind of attitude.

It’s slightly oversized on me, but that’s exactly the balance I’m into right now. To make the larger proportions easier to style, I chose more clear and translucent acetate colors for this collection.

To keep the larger frame from feeling too heavy, I paired the front with our slim original β-titanium temples. The front has a strong presence, while the temples keep the profile clean and refined.

Adjustable hinges allow fine adjustments to the frame angle to accommodate differences in ear height.

Adjustable Cling nose pads are combined with a slightly wider bridge, allowing the frame to be precisely fitted to different facial structures.

Made in Sabae, Fukui, Japan. Each frame is carefully finished with attention not only to the design, but also to balance and fit when worn.
